SALGA National Communicators Forum 2017

SALGA National Communicators Forum (SNCF) is a peer learning platform for local government communicators. It aims to facilitate discussions surrounding challenges and best practices in the municipal communication space as well as to build an interactive community of local government communicators.

SALGA convened the inaugural meeting in March 2017 at the CSIR International Convention Centre, Pretoria with all heads of municipal communication in attendance. The keynote address was delivered by the then Minister of Communication, Minister Faith Mutambi. Deputy Minister Andries Nel from Cogta was also in attendance to support the effort.

The second SNCF will be held on the 25th – 26th July 2017 at the Durban International Convention Centre with the following objectives:

. Peer learning between municipalities and media experts on the best communication channels and platforms for the sector

. Communication Policy discussions

. Reflections on the inaugural forum

. Identifying key partners for supporting communication initiatives

The communicator’s forum has been identified as an effective way to create awareness amongst municipal communicators about the importance of timeous and relevant communication as well as highlighting and taking action on challenges faced by municipal communicators.
Other stakeholders involved in the SNCF include government departments, social media companies, and marketing and brand management companies.
